Architecture in Bromley – from Wren to Art Deco….and beyond?

13 June 2024

19:00 -21:30

Come and see this illustrated and animated presentation given by Tony Banfield and Peter Martin and other local enthusiasts from the Bromley Civic Society in the fabulous art-deco Heritage Room of the Old Town Hall.

We will tell the story of Bromley town through the buildings you can see today - the Wren inspired Bromley and Sheppards Colleges, the Georgian origins of the current Bishops Palace to the treasure trove of Victorian Arts and Crafts pubs, shops and public buildings built in Bromley's hey-day in the late 1800s.

The Old Town Hall itself, now magnificently restored, features prominently in that story. There will be a nod to the future as we look at how architects are taking account, or not, of Bromley's historic past and an opportunity for a lively discussion and Q and A following the presentation.
