BUILDING WITH COB – Workshop

As part of the London Festival of Architecture in partnership with Hadley Road Community Allotment, Studio DERA presents two research and development days on BUILDING WITH COB. The days will consist of a hands-on workshop in which you can contribute directly to building CobBauge walls (insulated rammed earth) for the Hadley Road Community Allotment Hub in South London on one of Studio DERA’s live projects.

This workshop is a unique chance to gain practical experience in earth construction, offering in-depth insight and practical experience in a traditional yet innovative building technique, under a guidance of a master Cob builder Paul Barclay. There will be a lunchtime talks from Architects Climate Action Network [ACAN] and the others on the use of natural materials and the innovation properties of the use of CobBauge.

The event (11AM-4PM) is free places are limited (NB: Beginners workshop open to all over 16s).

There will be two workshops: FRI 28th, [11AM-4PM] & SAT 29th June, [11AM-4PM]

As this is a live building site on an allotment. There are existing constraints that make it challenging for accessibility due to the ground conditions and height of the formwork etc. The talks would be available for all. There is only a site portable toilet only, so unfortunately not suitable for those in wheelchairs.
