A walking tour through Spitalfields and Aldgate tells the stories of the early Sikh communities in the UK, reimagining the locations through a Sikh lens!
The Society of the Protection of Ancient Buildings and Prince Victor Duleep Singh's connection to it, as well as Spitalfields' Artillery Passage—also known as 'Sikh Street' —and the tales of the Sikh residents who lived there in the 1930s, will be among the stops. We will also stop at the East India Arms, Fenchurch Street, and tell the tale of how the Sikh Empire became a part of India through the annexation of the Kingdom of Lahore in 1849 by the East India Company. The tour will end with a group visit to the Tower of London and a viewing of the Kohinoor Diamond, during which a history of the Sikh Empire and Maharaja Ranjit Singh will be shared! (Group access to the Tower of London is included.)
