How Camden Place was Reimagined

27 June 2024

18:00 -20:00

A 1717 country house transformed into a country mansion by James 'Athenian' Dance. In 1860 the house was re-imagined as a French chateaux including dining room panelling from the Chateaux de Bercy.

Find out about the architectural heritage of Emperor Napoleon III with a talk and tour of the spectacular ground floor.

The talk will be given by Angela Hatton, Director of Heritage at Camden Place. The talk will be followed by tours of the ground floor lead by volunteers. Jacobean and French architectural styles will be showcased offering insights into how a country mansion was transformed in 1860 and enhanced into a safe home in exile for the French Imperial family.

Refreshments served from the club bar. 60 places available 6pm until 8pm
