Exhibition of BA Interior Architecture final year student work from Middlesex University is the culmination of a year-long project titled ‘Rough City’, which has engaged the cohort in the investigation, interrogation, and analysis of the Coal Drops Yard development in Kings Cross, focussing on the effect of the homogenisation of the built environment through design intervention.
Their task has been to ‘disrupt’ this homogeneity, proposing the insertion of new hybrid uses and services that re-connect local communities to the site. In dialogue with The People’s Museum students have generated innovative and complex proposals that directly address social sustainability, producing outcomes that aim to be radically creative, whilst acting with care and integrity.
We hope that the exhibition will create conversations about promoting the importance of community-focused projects.
Opening June 20th 5 pm- 9 pm.
