Join a tour led by the Orpington and District Archaeological Society (ODAS) of its archaeological excavations and Tudor foundations at Scadbury Moated Manor, which still has its moat around it. You will see the brick foundations of the Tudor kitchens and great hall. Visitors can also see the World War II defences.
Hear the story of the manor from the 13th to 20th century. See finds from the excavations including medieval floor tile, fragments of the stone fireplace dated to around 1430 together with pottery and roof tile.
Imagine what the building would have looked like when Queen Elizabeth I visited the site in 1597. Donations towards ODAS’ work will be welcome.
