We'll be starting from Totteridge & Whetstone train station. We walk along Totteridge Lane looking at green spaces, we see modern houses built in an ancient cemetery, a green corridor into London, golf, tennis, and cricket clubs. We imagine what this was like before cars, before the trains, before proper roads, before Christianity arrived.
We see where the brothers who founded the Daily Mail lived.
We see the village Church from the 1700s, a 2000 year old yew tree, magnificent mansions, a cattle pound from 400 years ago, an ancient tithe barn, and war memorials to the Crimean and World Wars.
We look at the site of a massive country house and the beautiful gardens which remain. We visit the village pub and see great examples of grand old houses.
As we walk through the village green we see the old Smithy, and wander down to a beautiful pond. If we're lucky we'll see the resident Heron.
We imagine what challenges and opportunities the future might hold.
I have lived for many years in the area and look forward to sharing my secret favourite places.
