The UEL end-of-year show is a celebration of student work and their mastery.
The crystallization of ideas of how to build responsibly tackling the ‘climate emergency’, our architectural briefs asked students to ‘reimagine’ the future of architecture and propose ways to erect buildings with novel materials. From harmless building products, to reuse and imaginative use of bio-waste students achieve that challenge.
Last year UEL’s End of Year show was named by the ‘Architectural Journal’ as the ‘Space X of Architectural schools’ referring to the patent interest of students and briefs addressing the climate emergency. This was materialized by the students’ choice of building technologies, approach to the site, environmental comfort, reduced use of energy, transportation and use of self-build strategies. This was also translated into drawing work, large-scale physical models and the use of robotic/digital manufacture.
The UEL end-of-year show is hosted within the AVA building East of the Dockland campus, extending outdoors towards the neighbouring Royal Docklands Centre for Sustainability which hosts the digital fabrication lab and research labs. These spaces and the courtyards between them are usually open to the public and secured by security staff.
The exhibition is targeted to both architecture experts, amateurs and laymen, to all interested in architecture and design, as part of the yearly exhibition of the architecture and visual arts graduation show.
