Urban Odyssey: Young Soul Rebels

A screening of Isaac Julien’s cult classic Young Soul Rebels. This part murder mystery, part romcom, part thriller explores the racial, sexual, and political tensions between the various youth movements of the late 1970s.

Julien's stylish story traverses the social landscape of the era: from east London council estates, to underground soul clubs, to West End offices, and city parks. All set against the backdrop of Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee.

This screening is curated and introduced by architect and writer Derin Fadina for Public Assembly, Urban Radicals’ installation which forms part of their larger Street Assemblies series of installations for this year’s LFA, within the City of London’s Square Mile.

This film is rated 15. Contains strong sex, nudity, racism, language, drug misuse.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the African Rainbow Family, providing support for LGBTIQ people of African heritage and the wider Black and Asian Minority Ethnic groups.
