Windows Into Spring: A Shop Window Reimagined by Archie Proudfoot x Cult Vision

01 June - 30 June

6:00 -23:45

'Windows into Spring’ is a collaboration between Cult Vision and Archie Proudfoot, artist and winner of the 2023 Shed of the Year. The installation is layered and designed to focus the gaze of passers-by and spectators on the shop window, the screen wall beyond, the immediate locale, and themselves.

The result of a 3-day live reverse-glass window painting performance (21, 22, 23 May, with a concurrent exhibition at Velorose, and a celebration on the Thursday evening), Archie intentionally brings the wonder and colour of Spring into the densely urban space of glass and concrete of a shop window on the Brutalist Golden Lane Estate.

Using gold leaf and enamel paint, Archie reimagines the shop window and plays with mirrored surfaces to reflect both viewer and city, ensuring that the resultant artwork questions who or what constitutes our urban spectacle.

Prints available from Velorose, curator of the collaboration.
