Designing Sustainable Cities: Innovations in Digital Design, Construction, and Materials

17 June 2024

18:00 -20:30

Creating sustainable buildings involves minimising the amount of materials while ensuring they last longer. This means creating buildings that are efficient to build, operate and dismantle, and making sure these spaces meet people's needs, are appealing, and can adapt over time.

Zaha Hadid Architects and sustainable building solutions company Holcim believe in meeting these challenges to create economically and ecologically thriving cities. Zaha Hadid Architects use the latest digital tools and techniques creating advanced designs, while Holcim's material innovations support efficient and circular construction.

Techniques like 3D Printing combined with digital design and engineering can help to achieve sustainable development. Together, they can help build the resilient cities the world needs in the next 25 years to provide shelter and infrastructure to support growing urban populations.

Join us as our panel reimagines design, construction, and materials to reshape our cities for a greener future.

The panel:
– Edwin Heathcote, Architecture and Design Critic at the Financial Times (Moderator)
- Shajay Bhooshan, Co-founder of Computation and Design research group at Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHACODE)
- Nollaig Forrest, Chief Sustainability Officer at Holcim
- Hanif Kara, Co-Founder & Design Director at AKTII
