London Festival of ARchitecture History - 2018 - Identity

Festival History | 2018

Identity

Focusing on the theme ‘identity’ and questions of what makes a Londoner, and what defines the city and therefore the identity of those who live in it, the LFA2018 programme saw the delivery of a programme by more than 300 separate organisations and individuals – helping us reach an audience over well over 600,000 people.

Highlights for the year included the first ever Pride Float, LFA symposium and City Benches – which would become a repeated fixture in the LFA programme, alongside the launch of the Festivals first ‘Architecture Masters’ podcast – which expanded the Festival’s reach beyond the boundaries of June. This year also saw the launch of the #SeeTheElephant campaign, aiming to tackle discriminatory behaviour in the built environment and encourage industry leaders to commit to positive change.

Hidden behind construction site hoarding, the installation drew inspiration from London’s identity and the poetic narrative of Lithuanian culture, which closely links humans and nature. Throughout June, it transformed into an event space, ...
